New Beginnings

Wow! It’s been a long time! Amazing how time flies when you’ve got a full plate.  A little more than a year ago I made a post guaranteeing that I would continue to post, if sporadically, and complete the series I had started. And I did… for 3 months, then fell off the face of the blogosphere. How could it be that I, a content marketer couldn’t find time to blog. But the more I read, the more I understand that -t was a step that seems to follow in the lifecycle of every blog.

I’d love to post here every day, but the honest truth is that content creation takes time and my life seems to get busier by the day. (My oldest is starting high school soon!). What with creating content for my clients as a priority, my personal blogging career was slowly moving out of my view.Image

With this in mind, I began to think about why I wasn’t posting regularly and made the decision to focus on my Facebook page instead- short blurbs, images, videos to share and an engaged audience- it’s one of the services I provide and I do it for myself too! But, my blog still needs to be a communications hub- somewhere to hear my voice on the topics my industry talks and thinks about and is in the news regularly. In fact,I have created editorial calendar and a process to get my blog rolling again.

KONNECTION: The Playlist of Songs For Your Frenemy

Ever downloaded a song that you heard and then realize, you don’t actually like it, you just couldn’t get it out of your head?

I realized that I was doing this over and over and decided I was going to create a playlist for someone I love to hate. These songs seem perfect- they get stuck in your head, and it even plays in your dreams!

So what is on this playlist?
Well for starters, anything by Colbie Caillet. I want to like her music. Then when I download it onto a playlist, I continually skip over the song.

Probably a few Katy Perry songs ( I want to like them!)

How about you?
Some classic songs that stick in your head? How about anything from Ace of Base? Glee?
I think making these songs into a playlist and giving it to the very person you seem to love and hate at the same time makes a lot of sense. Maybe the songs will stick in their head and be as annoying as it is for me.

What song would you add to the playlist?

KONNECTION: Hop Gives Me Hope

KONNECTION: My kids were counting down the days. Hop was heavily marketed through TV and my kids bought into it. I sighed, another kids movie. In fact, with 3 kids, we see the tween movies, the toddler movies, the Disney/Pixar and everything in between. Most people give my kids gift cards so we NEVER run out of excuses.

So I find myself in a holiday movie and hope the potty jokes stay at a minimum (especially since the trailers show the main character EB pooping out jellybeans…nice!)

I liken the movie to the Santa Clause series- not overly religious, but still gives you a warm fuzzy by the end of the movie. Hop did just that.  I left feeling ready for Easter and Passover ( another blog post, another tangent!). Ready to face family and be excited about dyeing eggs and hiding baskets.

In any konnection, we look to tap into some type of emotion inducing laughter, tears, anger, giggles, and feel -good moments. This one, even through the massive amount of kids movies, stood out. This one had a konnection for me… and then we piled in the car and the bickering started…. back to reality.

Why is this important? Do you think you have said something over and over- I mean how many ways can you say it? Well, the art of content is to introduce familiar concepts, ideas, thoughts and present them in a new way.

I recently was sent this video— and it says it all!

MUSE and KONNECTIONS

As a way to organize my thoughts, I am going to tag my thoughts in a way that makes sense to me and hopefully to you. So, a MUSE is a thought I am sharing from something I read, heard, or am wondering aloud about. I am hoping to tag and link correctly. I may go back and do it after I post- sorry but I think this applies for my life:)
A KONNECTION: will be somthing I want to share, either in video, text, or something to KONNECT to such as a quote or any other wacky thing I might stumble upon.
More to come I am sure…

Konnections are everything!

Energy. Relationships. Love. Connections really make the world go round. When there is a connection, there is a transfer between two machines, people, molecule. It’s interesting that we understand connections and the story we tell around them. Think about it- love connections are a cornerstone of every story. The written word creates connection, recite a line from your favorite poet for instance. Mine- “All the world’s a stage….”. That connection started me down a path. But that’s a story for another day.

How about movies? Do we feel a connection there? Hell yes! Music? Amen! And so on….

Content connects us. it gives us motivation, encouragement, information, ammunition and food for thought.

Does your content Konnect?
